Measles
In this disease, the infected get fever first, then red spots start forming all over the body. Then after two to three days, these spots start forming into blisters, and from the fourth day, the skin starts getting dry and peeling off. Measles is an infectious disease. Those who come near the measles-infected person are at risk of infection.
Remedies
• Make sandalwood paste by rubbing it on a stone; apply on the affected spots to ease out the itching and burning caused by the spots.
• Mix 20 gm camphor in 100 ml coconut oil and apply the mixture on the body 3 to 4 times a day.
• If there is burning and itching in the body even when the disease cures, then boil dry amla in water. Let the water cool down, dip a clean cloth in the water and gently wipe the kid’s body with the same.
• Applying amla paste on the affected skin is also very beneficial.
• During measles, clean the infected skin with a cooled potion of neem and the bark of cluster fig. Later, apply neem oil.
• Mix juice of brahmi (bacopa monnieri) with honey, and feed the mixture to the kid.
Remember:
• The patient should be given utmost rest. Other kids should not be let near the patient since the disease is infectious.
• The patient should be kept away from too much of sun’s rays, strong winds, and dust.
• The patient’s digestion weakens during measles. Therefore, give him/her liquid food such as rice-water and lentils-water; frequently give boiled water mixed with salt and sugar.
